Sail-drive rope cutter

Any suggestions for a sail-drive rope cutter for the prop?

Ambassador makes the only scissor-type one for saildrives (the Stripper). There are other types though. See the thread Cantata linked for reviews and comments.

I have an Ambassador and it has worked in anger once. It is amazing and the service is fantastic.

Broker said they only recommend Ambassador so that's what is going on mine when it arrives.

We had an Ambassador for 10 plus years on last boat and would recommend but if you have a folding prop on saildrive the only problem might be it doesn't fit on your folder . I am sure Ambassador can advise on this though but was a slight surprise to me when told and rather too late to change prop so had to go with a simple disc model which was rather disappointing . Ideally the prop co and Ambassador should sort this out between them though.

My boat will have a flexofold so hoping the broker has a workaround

That's what I thought so maybe just doesn't work with the J prop however we had Volvo folder on last boat and all was fine so it's probably fine on a flexofold

Yes, it does seem an adaptor is need for a flexofold on a Yanmar saildrive but the adaptor comes with the stripper when ordering so hopefully mine will be fine.

Yes useful site - when they say yet to be tested I think it means it doesn't work with J props but I don't know why . Maybe someone will enlighten us one day
