Sail Battens

Hi,

Can anyone give me a clue on where to buy a couple of 6mtr 20mm round battens for a Catamaran mainsail. I am on Gibraltar atm but I can get them transported from the UK and the local supplier has quoted me 200 euro each for them !!!!! I am sure last time I needed some in the UK they where a fraction of that price!

Bainbridge International sells 20mm round battens but only sell to the trade. Ask a local sail maker and they will be able to supply them...shipping cost to Gib will be ££££ though as I think these have to go flat rather than coiled up.

Have you thought of making your own?

It would be quite an easy job to build up epoxy and glass over, say, a plastic pipe. Are they solid?

The answer was Bainbridge but I had to go through one of their resellers. Significantly lower cost (around a quarter of the local price excluding the shipping). Shipping will end up working out at about £75 in total, I am using GibCargo who have a twice weekly groupage service to the UK and of course no VAT here as I am a 'Yacht in Transit'
