Oops, didn't mean to convey that impression. He's very much alive and well and enjoying his trip, see his blog site. Ian specialises in Wightlink near-misses and there is a theory that they were targetting him.

He and Cindy are sadly missed from our Friday night beer club.

No, just the normal lense but zoomed in for effect. Neither of them worried us but I took avoiding action for the wightlink by steering for his stern as he didn't seem particularly interested in avoiding us.
