Rust stains on sails

Some idiot, ie me(!), managed to leave rusty anchor chain on the sails. I’ve tried washing them in a strong solution of washing powder, but have not had much success.
Any thought on the best way to get them out, without damaging the sail ( Dacron).

Google How to remove rust stains from clothes to get a few ideas. White vinegar is suggested, as is Vanish.

If all else fails, oxalic acid isn't a strong acid, so I doubt it would damage them if left for just a few minutes

Oxalic acid solution is the way to go.

Wear gloves and dont get it in your eyes !

You could try y10 as a branded product with oxalis acid but costs more of course. Vanish is first go to product though.

Bar Keepers Friend, contains oxalic acid.
