anyone hear about the runaway jet ski off Harwich yesterday afternoon? A securite announcement from Walton CGhad it travelling off Pennyhole bay at about 20 knots with no-one on board! It apparently stopped off Pye End.

I'm in two minds whether they are more dangerous with a rider or without!

It's touch and go, but on balance with a rider is probably best. I heard the CG call as I was sailing from the Deben down to Burnham and was fortunate to be out of reachof the thing.

Salvage?

Interesting thought. If you found it, would you return it and claim salvage, or would you sink it as a hazard to navigation?

it went off from Dovercourt just after I left Harwich Harbour yesterday, eventually got picked up & towed in - as I entered the Deben another one was floating slowly out on the ebb past the Ferry, also retreived in the end - 2 down...

Is someone casting them adrift? and if so will it catch on?
