Rudder bearing lubricant?

I've had a noisy rudder for a while now which makes creaking noises and it's hard to sleep in the aft cabin. Yesterday, I squirted some 3 in 1 everywhere I could get at which seems to have done the trick, for now. I think the culprit was a sort of cutless bearing at the top of the rudder post but I'm not inclined to take it apart too much in the water. The question I ask is, is there a better lubricant for the rudder bearings than 3 in 1?

Silicone Oil is probably the best stuff, a good one like Mjolnir who make Pure Silicone Oil for Tools & a spray version

I have some of that on board but, ideally, I'd like something that will penetrate like a spray so I don't have to do any disassembly on the water.

My middle rudder bearing is bronze. It has a grease gun attached by copper pipe. A few pumps periodically keeps it greased.

I'd use engine oil. Thicker than 3 in 1, and will penetrate better than grease.
