thank you fan club for pointing out that I was first for a reasonably long time. The praise went to my head, and I ran aground for 24 hrs while doing some work.

Now heading out to Brazil to avoid the tropical convergence zone doldrums.

Butter about to melt :)

Oh, PS. No change of name, just a first time player.

I keep trying to get west, as I'm collecting daughter no3 from Uni on sat and have a christening to go to on Sun,, think my new strategy is to just head south and hope for the best.

Having to work and sleep is not ideal is it.

I think you were somewhere just south of Puerto Del Rosario. Could be worse places to run aground. Hope no lasting damage was done...apart from to the ego!

You have still got loads of time to make up lost ground. Just think, you now have your very own weather system.

Glad you guys are having fun ... I haven't got the time to dedicate to the race this time (didn't have last time either!) hence I'm nowhere to be seen ... in fact I'm still in the marina ... :(

Still time to enter the remaining legs. Count the first 2 as your discards.
Go on you know you want to :D

I'm hoping by the time I get there they will be gone.

Arghhh... seemed to have missed this thread, when did the RTW start?

I noticed a few YBW'ers in the current race so entered all be it a long time after it started, so I'm slowly bringing up the rear, is this leg 1 or 2?

Can I be added to the list of runners and riders please.

Cheers
Al.

Hi Alistairr

It's leg two but in ybw we are allowing two discards from the seven legs - so you're still in with a chance! (Although I don't know how we're scoring this!!!)

I can see you as YBWalistairr and you are indeed one of the fifteen YBW yachts!

I'm just crossing the equator.. time to jump in for a swim... albeit a short swim because Sanderling and Dipper are in hot pursuit!

Catch you later ybw_mjm

Already got you Al. Have you down as a DNS for the 1st leg but don't worry you've got 2 Discards from the 6 legs.

Thanks Martin and thanks Trevor.

I didn't realise it had started again I just happen to look in a few days ago, glad I did, I'm bringing up the rear but enjoying it though. Thanks for including me.

Who moved the doldrums?

Turning into a bit of a dilema this one. This morn it looked like there was a low heading east that I was going to rendezvous with in 5 days now the doldrums have moved 35 degrees south:confused::confused::confused:

I've been on cc 180° for several days. I had hoped you chaps would think I had fallen overboard with the autohelm set and come looking for me but no such luck.

Well thats it guys, I am now off for a long weekend to Biarritz for the rugby. Don't know if I shall be able to get to a computer now until next Tuesday. Shall pick up the pieces then!!

Hope you all get a bit more in the way of interesting winds in my absence.;)
