Round Britain Slowly.

A pair of old men in Vertues (one each) failed to complete a round Britain and Ireland cruise in 1990. We had a good time though, and hope to have another go in a year or so.
Given my habit of stopping to enjoy the places we visit it is unlikely that one season will be enough, so I’m looking for suitable yards in which to over winter one or two wooden Vertues. Places used to boats made of wood staffed by people who are sympathetic to their needs are what I’m after. On the west coat of Ireland and the west coast of Scotland depending on the slowness of our progress.
Any first hand recommendations?

Look no further than Ullapool. I am now working at Ullapool Boatbuilders where we specialise in building and repairing wooden boats. There'll be another Vertue in the yard next winter, which would make three. Under cover too, if you want, and close to the best wooden boat TLC in the Highlands. We can even find you a temporary mooring, slip them and make good any wear and tear.

Do get in touch and I'll fill you in.
