Rode, warp or rope question?

I want to extend my anchore chain with rope. The boat is a reasonably heavy 10m (~8 tons). What is the recomended type and material for the job?

Depends on the size of chain. 12 or 14mm rope to 8mm or 3/8 chain 16 or 18mm to 10mm chain. Three strand nylon (my preference) or anchorplait both spliced into chain if going over a windlass gypsy. Some people prefer a hard eye and shackle, particulalry if windlass is not used or rope is only for occasional use.
