I'm considering a 24 foot yacht. I'd need to get it transported by road from Surrey down to near Portsmouth and want to factor in the cost. Anyone got any recommendations on good companies to contact?

Thanks.

I used Beverlet Transport based in Beverley North Yorkshire, advertises in MBM, they do a good job with care, also operates in the south.
Try and get a back load it's cheaper, give them a window not a date to move boat,it's cheaper.
Do not save money with a lorry with a hoist, make sure you lift the boat correctly in a cradle, you will not see the damage, but if your going to damage a boat, moving it is the best time so do not pick a cowboy outfit to save the last penny, pick a specialist boat movers.

Happy sailing

I can also thoroughly recommend Beverley Transport Services. As advised, don't be too proscriptive about the day of the move, and they should be able to schedule you to be one segment of a multi-trip route.

Careful, professional, communicative and friendly - can't ask for more.

Ray Loveland transported my Hunter Ranger 265 for £325 from Chatham,Kent to Hamble. Very pleased with him.

Another is Dave Wolf - his quote was cheaper & also very experienced but he couldn't make the date I wanted.

Haven't got their numbers to hand but they advertise in PBO & ST. Will get the numbers tonight if you want them.
