RL80 - which CMAP?

In your new cruising grounds, AIS will be the last of your worries, J - just forget it.
If you have in mind an AIS screen while crossing the Channel (let alone ATC screens!), you'll be pleasantly surprised by how unnecessary AIS is in the Med.
Mind, I'm not saying useless, before someone bash me, but unnecessary for good! :encouragement:

Actually, at Sant Carles, we are using it to keep in contact with each other.
I've set a page up on our marina forum which shows where all forum's fleet of boats are.
The number of people transmitting AIS is increasing all the time.
Here's a link to a similar page http://www.scmchat.com/marina/scmfleet.html
Not much use at the moment because everyone is at home in SCM
But I think you will get the point.

You don't need any special kit as long as you are in 3G/GSM range - have a look at this app.
Here for the Android
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.electricpocket.boatbeacon&hl=en
and here for IOS (Apple) devices
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/boat-beacon-ais-marine-navigation/id494877039?mt=8

Personally, I've not used the app but I know some that have used it.
It would certainly allow you to join in the SCMCHAT Fleet and I'm sure it will give some good AIS coverage close to land.

Yup, absolutely. And I already saw that webpage, nice job indeed!

Btw, I've also tried an AIS app (called mAIS, which is also free), and it does what it says on the tin.
But IIRC your webpage is based on vesselfinder website, is it? The app I'm talking about is linked to marinetraffic...

If it's like the RL70C you can only tell by the boot screen as many were updated at the factory. Obviously easiest way is to borrow a card and try it. Or ring the company I linked to earlier, I found them very helpful (no connection etc.).
