Rigging in the Solent

I am dealing with Ross currently at Jtr and seems very helpful. He is formerly of performance rigging in Hamble I believe and took over from the well known Jerry .

We used XS rigging last time. The service was ok but we’ve got/had surface staining on the wire that I haven’t had before. Previous rigging was 15 years old (I know!) but didn’t have a mark on it. This lots two years old and had had to be cleaned/polished.

my boat needs re-rigging can anyone recommend RigIt? Or is there a good recommendation for any other rigger in the Solent area?

We have used them on three occasions for two different boats, rigging was inspected professionally next day, and soon after all work done at they place at the Itchen marina. Super communications, all done very quickly and efficiently! They did some rewiring as well, new LED tricolour fitted at same time.

Jerry retired and sold to Ross and Gordon. Both very knowledgable and did a great job on my little Swift. Happy to recommend.

Martin Leaning in Port Solent. Not cheap, but very good - inspires confidence.

Second that. Martin is excellent and very co operative. He has a relationship with Port Solent to dismast and "park" your boat cheaply while he is working on it and if there is any work you want to do on the mast when it is down he is happy to let you do it.

I used Jerry the Rigger in 2021 for new standing rigging and ended up needing a furler. I had a warranty claim last year on the furler power module JTR rigging sorted it without charge!! Great service, knowledgeable and friendly..

All I can say about Rigit is that neither me nor any boat I have will return to his yard.

His question is almost 5 years old now. I use Performance Rigging at Hamble Point. Very happy with price & service.

Rigit do indeed seem to attract mixed opinions.
However, I was very happy with the work Pav and the team did on my boat; nice people and the workmanship is sounds on mine.

I have used Paul before. He is a decent bloke and I am happy to recomend. He did the re-rig of Paean for me when she was in Swanwick.

Last rigger who replaced all the rigging on my Twister was an ignorant XXXX. paid £1750 in advance. needed rigging for a week away. did not turn up. then was found dumped in yard. never supplied the inner stay I actually paid for so I went to performance rigging and bought another. kept my old rigging I asked to be returned. Never apologised and just continued to give me a crappy look. Still makes me angry now, such a stuck up attitude. Not any of those recommended here.
