Well, Shoreham actually, but near enough.

I am finally in a position where I will soon be able to do something with the boat rather than just pay the hard standing fees so am looking for a rigger in the Brighton/Shoreham area.

The work is to be to design and install single line reefing and re-route all the reefing lines back to the cockpit as well as miscellaneous stuff like climb the mast to install a topping lift. I need someone who is happy enough to remove and add deck fixings including glassing in pads etc if required so more than just a stainless wire merchant.

Can anyone here recomend a good rigger in the area who is prepared to to this at a sensible price ?

Thanks,

Boo2

It may be too far away for them, but Holman Rigging are at Chichester Marina - recommended - no association other than as a happy customer..

Thanks for that.

Does anyone know any others ? Is anyone trading out of Brighton Marina for instance ?

I'm not sure quite what has happened but SMR Rigging seems to have become Solent Spars, www.solentspars.com, tel 01273 605426.
Not connected with SMR Marine Ltd (i.e. the chandlery) although using same address 1a East Lockside, Brighton Marina, and accessible through their shop.
I don't know whether Mike Stephens - the SMR Rigging guy - is involved or not. The Rigging Manager is Seth Clasby.

Solent Spars website claims "As sole agents for Selden Masts in the South East region,.."
Sussex Yachts claim to be " main agents for all major brands including, Selden, ..."

Both have rigging workshops at the marina. Solent Spars is at the far end by the lock, Sussex Yachts is a little incongruously in the main retail shopping square (along with Ancasta).

Take your pick! I've found both to be friendly and helpful when looking for oddments, not had any major work from either.

I have found Mike on 07568 065310 or 01273 841185 very helpful. He works on lots of boats in Brighton and around Sussex

Sorry to resurrect an old thread - are there any new or updated recommendations for a rigging survey and any necessary work for a Nicholson 35 in Brighton?

Thanks

+1 for Mike.
Was returning from West Country to East Coast and after some strong winds found that the shrouds could do with some attention.
I had a short stopover in Brighton and Mike popped round the same afternoon and sorted everything.
