Over the years I have collected 19 notebooks and 5 desktop PC's .... with many just put under the bench years ago.

Notebooks galore.jpg

Win 98 Desktop.jpg

....... just a part of the haul !

With weather and this 'Virus' reducing workload ... I hit on dragging out some and seeing which worked and what 'goodies' I could find on them.

PDF manuals I have downloaded / scanned of loads of gear on my boats from all the years ....

Needless to say - nearly all the items still work and are in process of being 'brought back into use' ....

Items like :

eTrex HH

Bluenext BT GPS

Marineradar AIS

PC navigation programs and utilities

Chart drawing and compiling

The list is extensive ....

Keeps me occupied !!

I stripped a few bits from my old Acer laptop when I replaced it a couple of years ago. (I took it apart out of curiosity really).
The hard drive was repurposed to serve as a storage device on our smart TV with the aid of a small enclosure from eBay. The DVD drive and memory expansion cards would appear to have some value but at the moment are languishing in a desk drawer.

When I closed my software development business I had a larger quantity of redundant computers and screens.

I donated some to some local non profit sail training organizations and other chartries.

When I upgrade my own computers I look at it as a way of clearing out all the rubbish/unused data.

You all need to get Macs. My MacBook Pro laptop is 12 years old, on it’s original battery and functioning perfectly. Never had a virus/malware and I’ve never once had to upgrade all the antivirus nonsense you do with a pc. Expensive, yes, but well worth it in the long run.

Never again.
blimmin things, you can keep the Macbookpro that I once bought. POS. Waste of money.

I’ll stick with W10 machines and easy to buy software.

I used to keep old gadgets, computers and the like... but you can't hold on to it forever...

There is a £1 max fee offer on this weekend on Ebay... That's what I'd do. Just scrub the disks first.
