Request for help – Drugs Importation via Boats & Planes.

Strange postscript to this, My Grandad was the Keeper! not long after this took place he took the ten elephants for a walk over to the field, on the way back he used the trackside phone & was given the all clear to cross the line. The circus elephants were trunk holding tails as circus elephants do, 9 of them crossed the line but a fast train came a bit early & killed the last elephant stone dead. The circus sued the railway for all ten elephants..........
Because when the last one was killed it ripped the asses out of the other nine!

4 border force officers came into our yard on Sunday. As the seas were rough they decided to Ave a drive around. Asked me if I've seen any strange boat movements. We're right on the edge of pegwell Bay. Leading into the stour. How on earth do I distinguish a dodgy boat carrying drugs to people having a cruise on the river. Answers on a post card please

I imagine that means “no, everyone I saw appeared to be people having a normal cruise on the estuary”. What would seem strange?
- types of boat you don’t normally see
- time of day people don’t normally go out/in
- demographics that don’t fit with the area/boat
- people who don’t seem to have much nautical knowledge, don’t seem to know the area, and are not in typical tourist spots
- people who go out from shore meet another boat and come back in rather than spending a day cruising round
- people carrying heavy bags or containers, but who seem to have been out for hours not days
- people who don’t want to talk / keen to avoid contact

Individually might not be suspicious but add the factors together and it starts to “feel” odd.

I would imagine that it is very hard to get rid of the drug smell. So every time a sniffer dog gets anywhere near that boat, it is going to get very excited.
I suspect you would get quite a few visits from heavily armed men dressed in black......
Looking at the date of the article it was from 2.5 years ago so the smell might have worn off by now. Sniffer dogs are much cleverer than us anyway and would soon see through a non starter with no dog's bonus at the end.
I once got "pointed out" by a Police Spaniel-------In my pocket was a Bonio!

I once had the opportunity of seeing sniffer dogs at work and talk with their handlers - it was a training exercise at Brize Norton. The interesting thing is that the dogs are trained simply to sit next to a suspicious package, not to point or make any obvious display. Their reaction to a Bonio would just have been normal doggy behaviour; their reaction to drugs would probably have been inconspicuous to any but their handler.
My late first wife saw regular searches of her office by explosives sniffer dogs - she worked in the central admin of the University of Cambridge when Phil the Greek was Chancellor! So whenever he was doing ceremonial duties, they got the once over. She described a very excitable spaniel type! The good side was the time he made a remark about their office being a bit scruffy; they got new furniture pretty quickly!

I got jumped by a sniffer at Washington Dulles airport. He just thought I was nice for a cuddle... Handler apologised ' He is young and a bit impulsive' Yer,
So, I assume from the above, that he didn't exibit the reaction to sniffing dope?...

Anyone who picks up something like that & brings it in is a fool. You are liable to have some proper nasty people waiting for you as soon as you get ashore & sods law the police will be late.
