My starboard engine tacho is playing up (lazy operation - only kicks in above
3000 rpm). The problem has been traced back to the tacho itself.

This is an original part (circa 91/92) which I'm told is no longer available.
The diameter is 85mm whereas the only replacements available have a
96mm diameter.

Can anyone recommend a good source for older VP parts or a place which
can recondition the old unit ?

Try ASAP Supplies as they have Faria gauges that would fit. They are on the web

Beaulieu Boat jumble is a good source of new & used VP parts. You could use something like a faria, but I am assuming that you would want it too match the original.

Send it to someone like Speedy Cables they'll repair it cheaper than a new one and it'll match its mate.

I've used the former but heard good thing about the second.

If it's a VDO, VDO Mannessman in Birmingham will recondition it for £50 inc post and packing.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I will explore the possibility of getting
the existing unit fixed so it matches the other one.
