Registering a yacht in EU under SSR after 31st December

I was wondering what happens if one wants to buy a yacht in the EU under a EU flag and then register it under SSR after Brexit?

You would have to deregister whichever flag it's on and then register on SSR if you meet the personal residence rules.

i know that but what about EU VAT status? I assume because the boat was already in the EU on the 31st December then it’s VAT paid with no provision to leave EU every 18months. Can anyone confirm?
I have dual nationality anyway (British and Italian).

Flag does not affect VAT status.
If VAT is paid it can be in the EU with any flag without temporary import process.

If it's VAT paid and the sale takes place in the EU it remains VAT paid in EU regardless of flag or ownership so can stay indefinitely.
