If like me your dog has an eu issued pet passport then from the 22/4/2026 these are now no longer legal and cannot be used to travel to the EU. Instead you need an animal health certificate for each pet which is limited to 6 mths.
If like me you are already abroad then you can use your existing eu pet passport to return to the UK.
For clarity, if you have property in the EU but are not resident in the EU then the passports are invalid.
I spoke with Defra today who are clearly feeling their way with these changes. I asked about the proposed GB pet passport which was discussed some time ago and about GB rejoinjng the pet travel scheme. They have no information about this.
You have to love those Brexit benefits...
