Somewhere I have the Read's Sailmaker manual in pdf format. PM your email address, then in the morning, once I'm coffeed up, I'll try find it and do the necessary.
Among the additional information it recommends using130LR1\10. needles which you can find online and, I believe, have a cutting point. It also says you can use Metric 40 or 30 thread depending, don't know how this relates to V92.
Personally I have always used the largest domestic needles and V69 which seems to work ok both on the machine and in use.
You should be fine with a V92 thread (and your suggested needle size).
You will probably find that you have to loosen the lower tension (i.e. loosen the bobbin case tension screw perhaps a quarter turn).. Remember, just enough to just be able to pick up the bobbin in it's case by thread alone..
Remember to keep all the moving parts very lightly oiled and take the needle plate off every so often and clear out all the fluff just to make life easier.
(Upper tension should be adjustable enough but if it's always been set up for lightweight tensions then it might need adjusting past the stop.. easy enough to do but may or may not be necessary.)
