Re-filling the gas

Does this actually happen? Are the stresses within the steel of a bottle sufficient for work hardening to be significant? I can’t find anything on google so am interested to hear more
Not often these days because regulations have made it hard to get to that stage. But yes, it is a thing.

What does “Fitted with full non-return/excess flow valve fitting” mean?

How does the connection know which way the gas is flowing?
The hoses are made to go from a bottle to a regulator. That is a one-way thing.

I have not messed with this myself, but AIUI, these people will sell you a plain old High Pressure LPG hose and an adaptor for a Camping Gaz bottle one end, a Calor gas bottle the other.

I'd say it's not Rocket Science.
If it starts looking like Rocket Science you've dun it rong.

It is not a designed filling hose but a high pressure hose to connect the bottle to a bulkhead mounted regulator.
Ah, you can get two types: "Red labels for those fitted with full non-return/excess flow valve fittings and a yellow label for other assemblies. S/T indicates straight through and N/R indicates a non-return/excess flow valve. For Butane only."

I purchased a 15kg Calor refill last week in the UK - £63. Just bought an identical refill in Spain Euro 15.20. Talk about Rip Off Britain

Likewise Camping Gaz. I’ve seen 907 refills/exchanges advertised for circa £50. I exchanged in Portugal last week for €15 (< £13) and the seller apologised for the price rise (€13 last time)!

There is a survey questionnaire that would be great if you can all fill out, if you visit the Westerly Owners Association website or the facebook group page where you will find links to an online survey which will take you 2 minutes to fill out and those with motorhomes and caravans are also welcome to fill it out as they are all affected as well. If you have purchased a current PBO there is also an article in there.
Over 2000 have been returned so far from many different makes of yacht the figures are being compiled and then a formal complaint made to the Competition and Market Authority.
