Hi All,
Looking for some advice. I have a Raymarine ST6001+ that has been working fine until now. The auto pilot turns on ok. But when I press auto to hold a course the steering wheel will either turn a small amount slowly or not turn at all. If I press - or + 10 degrees there is no movement. I have found that after about an hour sometimes two hours of being turned on it will slowly start to work again until fully functioning. If at anchor I turn the unit on and press auto as if to hold a course I get a ticking sound coming from what I believe is the motor. I get the same if I press + or - 10 where i would expect to see the wheel turn. I've checked all the wiring and made sure I have no metal objects close to the fluxgate compass.
Any ideas? Anyone experienced this and found the problem.
