I am trying to download software version 5.69 for my classic E series plotter. I can download it to my Mac, unzip it fine, but I can’t get my Mac to ‘see’ my new CF card. I have an old multi format memory card reader which I put the CF card into and I then connect the reader to my Mac via a USB cable. Here is where I think the issue is. I get a power light on the multi format card reader, but no disk shows up on Mac in finder.

So I have three questions I guess:

1. Has anyone got copy of the software version 5.69 on a CF card they could send to me so I can update my plotter?

2. Is anyone interested in downloading the software and putting on the CF card I have if I send it to them with a SAE?

3. Any other ideas on how to get my Mac to see my multi format card reader( this is where I think the fault is as it is old and has sat around for probably 8 years or so).

I'm in PV later this week with a W10 laptop if you need help?

Edit: otherwise PM me your address and I'll stick it on a CF card for you

cant you just get the file in a usb stick and take it together with the CF card to a photo shop and ask them kindly to pass the one to the other? (or a computer shop for that mater...)
obviously the mac cannot see the multireader, no big deal, scrap the mac!

V.

I can download the software ok on Mac and pc but the card is not recognised by the plotter.

I called Raymarine and then bought a second low capacity card of the brand suggested and still no Joy.

Perhaps we need a Forum card to pass round when someone finds the right combination !

Disco - Thanks. I have already been back in touch with Jimmy.

Jrudge - you might be on to something there. As my E Series probably had the original firmware loaded I guess the rest of my classic Raymarine products will be in a similar state. I am going to update them one at a time.

Vas - move away from my Mac. What would my iphone, ipad, apple tv etc talk to?? I've gone too far to turn back now.

You can download all of the updates for different devices onto one card and update them as slave devices through your plotter.

I got my last couple of software updates sent out free by Navionics, they send you a card with the update so you just put into plotter and install, it updated everything on the network.
Might be worth a call to see if they still offer this.

It does this:

v5.69 July 2012
Improved AIS performance including increase of Class B AIS target time-out period to prevent the MFD unnecessarily dropping AIS targets and providing correct TCPA calculation of both stationary and active AIS targets.

v5.52 Aug 2009
Digital Radome support - Raymarine has made provisions to insure all E-Series Classic Multifunction Displays possess full compatibility with the Digital Radome product line.
AIS Class B support - Further expanding on Raymarine's AIS capabilities, software v5.52 now provides E-Series Classic with AIS Class B support, including silent mode and buddy tracking.
Foreign language support for chart labels - E-Series Classic software v5.52 brings with it the addition of Unicode support, providing users the ability to display actual chart labels in a number of foreign languages (foreign language availability dependent upon purchased Navionics cartography).
SeaTalkng Support - With 5.52 software, the E-Series Classic MFDs can now be connected to a full SeaTalkng based installation (Support for AIS500 in SeaTalkng still pending).
Datum Selection - GPS Datum selection error previously reported earlier in the summer has now been corrected in this software release.
E-Series Classic v5.52 Corrections / improvements include:

Autopilot
Additional autopilot status symbols within fishing pattern mode
Improved alarm handling for SeaTalkng autopilot
Automatic Identification Systems (AIS)
Added Buddy Tracking and Silent Mode functionality
Addressed rebooting when a large number of AIS targets are in range (Greater than 300 targets)
Corrected issues with AIS Target List, simulator function and input to repeater display
Improved handling of AIS alarm acknowledgement
Chart
Added capability to adjust route line thickness and color
Data Bar
Addressed E-Series Classic Repeater display crashing when databar is switched off

Sorry for drifting (not much actually, just a bit...) from the main topic which is being discussed, but since I see that there's a lot of valuable knowledge on Raymarine firmware updates, I have one question related to the previous displays, i.e. the so calles HSB2 Plus series (RL70 and 80 C/CRC, L1250/60, etc.).

My understanding is that for these units it was impossible to upgrade the firmware via memory card, and it was necessary to send them to Raymarine to update them, instead.
Otoh, Raymarine doesn't offer that service anymore on these old units.
As a result, a unit for which a newer firmware was released at some point, unless upgraded before Raymarine discontinued its support, basically is now stuck with no chance to make any upgrade.

Is that correct, or am I missing some trick which could make an upgrade of these units feasible?
Thanks in advance!

Mcanderson, I've put the CF card (with 5.69 extracted to the root) in the post to you. It's a 64mb card which should be non-controversial with the E120 classic - I used this card to update my previous C120 classic.

Please send it back when you're done.

You could upgrade these via a special C-Map NT card supplied by Raymarine - I have no idea if you can still get one though.

Will do. I have also just ordered another CF card reader to try again and I will have it tomorrow.

Re SofF I will be flying down 18 May for 2 weeks and our plans are for a 7-10 day cruise from BSM west aiming for the Poquorolles. Are you about over that period??

Yep - we should overlap - we're down for the bank hol weekend at the end of May, 4/5 days iirc. The rosé beckons...

Oh yes. I left my wife on board for this week and she keeps emailing me with updates on the great weather. Sounds like the worm has turn on the Cote d'Azur and things have returned to normal.
