Well went and done it today, went with a friend who was taking his sailing boat from Poole to Hamble./forums/images/icons/crazy.gif
Not much wind today so ended up motoring a lot of the way./forums/images/icons/frown.gif
Found it enjoyable and the slow pace certainly makes for a quiet and relaxing trip./forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Still rather be a mobo-er although wouldn't mind going out on a sailing boat again , although prefer it to be a bit windier.

One small thought though was the wash from a Phantom 46 which passed us fairly close and also from the high speed ferry imho didn't seem to affect the boat much.

If you had been under sail, especially off the wind, you might have had a different view on the wake effects. Sailing a boat in a decent breeze is much more interesting and I do recommend you try and get that experience too, it can sometimes be less peaceful and quiet!

Rather disappointed that there wasn't much wind though did get about 5.5 knots under sail at one stage, compared to planing hulls, wake effect on sailing boat imho was much less, and according to my sailing friend the only time wake causes him any annoyance is the hooligan element in small power boats and jetski's who seem to think it's great fun to circle sailing boats at high speed, which I think most mobo-ers would agree with is not acceptable behavoir.

PS we also had Barfleur go past us while under sail.
