Buy a hand held and send the galley slave off in the dinghy to do the shopping. Whilst on her way do a radio check.
We knew the coast guard would be watered down ( not blaming them ) its the d*cks holding the purse strings............. government

Unless the RNLI are using similar dinghies & as close as your "galley slave", would you be happy to rely on that check?

Actually, I recall when I was in the Coastguard 7 or 8 years ago the basic ideas for what is now happening were formed IN the Coastguard service, and were said not to be to save any money. In fact I don't think the implementation of the plans does save any money at all, based on the last figures I saw before I left.
