Radargadgets AIS USB dongle

I have had one of these from the first days Andy put them together. I did testing of it with Seaclear and it worked a charm. In fact I used it when on ships for Ship to Ship work etc.

In those days - I didn't see any competition to it and for 99 quid ... it was a good buy. Andy and I had a number of chats about other gear he was considering, Navtex was one ....

I lost contact with Andy and never thought anymore about it till today. Various posts here on YBW triggered my thinking about my AIS dongle (its somewhere amongst my gear - have to rummage around and find it), and I googled it.

I was so sad to find an article from 2015 that said he had died after a short illness.

His legacy of course is that now there are a number of AIS USB items now on market.

Has anyone else one of the Radargadgets AIS dongles ? Is it working with Win 7 ... 8 ... 10 ?

I had one running on an XP notebook. Bought a SH VHF with AIS and sold the laptop and the USB thingy on here.

Yes - I saw the QK dongle ....

I still run Seaclear on my ACER One .... so the Radargadget is still a viable unit. The only problem is I lost the CD for it where you can alter its receiving ...

Never Riga .... its a ****hole ! I live in Ventspils - much cleaner and quieter. When I was on here a lot before - I was in Tallinn most of the time.

I've read the "it-digins blog" ....

The Cruisers Forum was where I found out Andy had died.

Can anyone help with DRIVERS .... seems my Acer 1 has lost the drivers installation for it ...

Managed to find a guy who had the original disc software / drivers for the Marine Gadgets Radar AIS USB dongle ....

Installed and back working again ...

Had a devils job sending instruction to it to change from Class B only to Class A + B receive (30secs) ... but got it done.

If anyone has this item and wants the files .... let me know.
