I thought the Wakhuna incident had as a contributory factor that the crew didn't know how to use the features (MARPA) of the radar, so the earlier remarks on go on a course are very apt.
I'm not too sure that you can split radar cables in the way described. Worth checking with Ray, they tend to be helpful if a bit technical.
We've had the main radar/plotter by the chart table: you tend to put in the route there and then we do other bits with a repeater under the spray hood also as described. The cable ends stay in bulkhead protected by a small dinghy hatch cover until needed. This allows the repeater to be stored below decks for safety when not in use. Worked well for us.
