Why do you insist on being dishonest about what i said?
Dishonest in what way? I expressed an alternative view, which you may not agree with, but it's perfectly OK for me to express it on an open forum.

As dulls said when i did not. You were dishonest about my post and what i said and inferred.Dishonest in what way? I expressed an alternative view, which you may not agree with, but it's perfectly OK for me to express it on an open forum.

Are you normally dishonest about what people say in trivial posts? Or have i just caught you on a bad day?As you've admitted, you inferred....
We had separate screens on a commercial boat i operated to give redundancy. We could also overlay but we never did as most of us were used to reading them separately.yes , with you on that , but with multi option,, may require more than one MFD

suck it up.You seem unusually argumentative. Looking at your previous posts, it seems you tend to inhabit the Current Affairs forum, where people are known to be hostile. Maybe you should try going back there...
On my last boat we had everything down below on the chart table. No nav readouts in the cot pit. A simple set up and all small screens. GPS and Radar has been replaced but AIS is still there (Vesper watchmate.) Sailed around Australia and New Zealand with that.yes , with you on that , but with multi option,, may require more than one MFD
wwow,, check that radar screen !!On my last boat we had everything down below on the chart table. No nav readouts in the cot pit. A simple set up and all small screens. GPS and Radar has been replaced but AIS is still there (Vesper watchmate.) Sailed around Australia and New Zealand with that.
Old Koden from the 90s. It worked but the power drain!wwow,, check that radar screen !!
O thought you made a reasnable post and 3000 plus is about right with many other combinations costing a lot more.
As you say, what suits one may not suit another. I prefer to have the data at the helm as i am often singlehandedOn my last boat we had everything down below on the chart table. yes,, nearer my original " unfer 2k ",, and if he doesnt then a used one is around 600 £ ,, but he has decided he will need 4k !! whatever .More pointless nonsense.
What if the boat has a Raymarine C series classic MFD fitted, used radome for £200-£300 and a NASA AIS for £120, that's substantially less than your £3k plus.
Seems to me that some of you just like to post something for the sake of it, no matter how pointless it is.
More pointless nonsense.

Makes sense. I would go that way as well. I had the opportunity to put the AIS in cot pit but could not bring myself to do it as i was thinking about electrics and moisture outside. I think i was wrong to think that way with the way things are sealed now.As you say, what suits one may not suit another. I prefer to have the data at the helm as i am often singlehanded
WhataboutaerfeckeryMore pointless nonsense.

Funnily enough I like separates also... I think it is a brain/eye thing... I find that I assimilate the information better as two streams rather than as one, with each being checked against the other...Here is my tuppence. I like my gear separate. Ais on one screen, Radar on another and GPS on another. I like it all uncluttered but that is just how my brain works. Sure they can talk to each other if they want but it is to my mind more gimmicky than necessary.
