No, just concentrating on getting out of the Med and I've got to go out tonight

Maybe I should get out more. You're No 1.

Only just picked up on this temp forum.
Blind as a bat.

Boat is Javelin,
Didn't realise about the ybw bit, oops.

Woke up this morning in 4th but now in the 800's on port tack and up to 400's on starboard.
Must be a large clump of boats near me.

Hope I can join you guys.....

I went out last night at 6pm, set some DCs and expected to check them when i got in. Got in at 1pm rather the worst for wear and went straight to bed. Got up about 10 this morn with a rotten head and had a quick look. Couldn't beleive my eyes.
I should try it more often :D

Oh Nuts,

Just realised you're all on SOL and I'm on VORG,
Oh well, good luck anyway.:p

Join SOL now anyway. It's free and it's a very long race. You don't have to finish this leg to start the next one so practice now and you will be fighting fit for the next leg.

We'd love to have you in the 'team' especially if you are behind us. ;)

WL - p'raps when you have set a DC, it might be worth checking in the 'clock' box to see if the system has accepted it . Takes about a minute to come back through to you from the Svedish computers, but setting DCs and getting them sequentially right is a tricky one.

Their server is really really slow. :(

I gather one of the team is now in California and they have transferred the site to a USA server. It shows up as a US hosted site on my Firefox when I eventually get connected.

Yes it's taking for ever for the race page to open

A question for those in the leading pack - which appear to be heading almost westerly out into the atlantic. Looks like all that is out there over the next few days is lightish winds in the middle, then stronger winds in the wrong direction further west. What is the plan?

btw, I (YBW_tmh900) started late, did well initially, now trying hard to get above #600.

I see the lightish winds coming as almost central, so I think a big split coming up, stay out west or keep east!

What is everybody doing?

Al.

Changing my mind everytime I log on seems like a good move to me. Keeps the crew on their toes and confuses the opposition.

On the other hand I see Trev is keeping a fairly steady course and is now No 1.

Last year I went out into the Atlantic. This year, I am sticking to the old clipper routes, and going down to the Canaries and then turning right, based on a quick look at the wind routing charts.

There was talk on the routing site for the Volvo boats of wind out west after 2 - 3 days, so it may be worth the gamble to head west.

From my position west just isnt an option. Light winds for the next 96 hours means I reckon i can be south of the canaries by the time it picks up.

The leaders out could have made a west route work but not now.

I am slipping by the hour, now 150nm behind and loosing ground in light airs

Good on Trev! leading the field. Just wondering though what your plan is? Ready for gybe yet? I just don't see west being an option now but it won't be the first time I've been wrong. In fact going from 1st to 90 something now I wouldn't listen to anything I say.
