It’s my Birthday on Monday and my Mums asked me what I want.

I'm thinking of a small-ish bulkhead charger mounted torch that charges through USB or cigar lighter socket.

Any recommendations?

Initially I thought it was too big but it’s only 20cm long so that’s fine. I also like to square shape, I’ve got round torches and they tend to roll about on the boat when you put them down, this one should stay put.

It also comes with a bracket so you can fix it to a bulkhead.

If you want the best german made that lasts then led lenser. I have one in regular use thats 2012 and same lithium battery.

USB charging is all fine until the flimsy rubber "waterproof" (joke) cover over the charging port breaks, or is left off, and the contacts corrode. I actually now prefer dry battery torches, plus a box of spare batteries. I agree Lenser is good, but mine runs on AAs.

I have various rechargeables in the house ... wife likes them .... but I agree that so often the contacts or the battery pack fails and then its useless (OK - I can often change out the pack for an old LiPo etc from my models) but most people cannot.

My preferred are now AA or AAA powered LED torches ..... batterys seem to last so long - you wonder why ?? LED's are bright ...

Some of the led lensers have a usb lead with magnetic cap that sticks to the power button on the end of the torch to recharge so no rusty connections.
They also have gold plated terminals and ive never experienced any faulty connection.
Many run off 18650 cells so very cheap and easy to replace as they fit in like a disposable battery.
Also appears that any replacement parts ( excluding battery) are foc !!
Facebook marketplace is a good place to get them cheap.
For a cheap but durable torch the £10ish lidls usb torches seem very good so far.
I do have a bit of a torch issue 🤫. Have had sooooo many but they all eventually died except for the ledlensers.
A divers torch does well on a boat..
