Sorry guys. I might be using the wrong thread. But I'm a boating newbie and I'm looking to purchase a boat for my dad who is both a fishing and sailing enthusiast. I'm planning to surprise him with it and therefore can't just ask him outright. Anyway, I'm looking for a boat that could be versatile enough to function as a fishing boat but still be used for more....leisurely activities? Not necessarily a sailboat, but not totally opposed to that either.
Right now, I've only managed to narrow it down to a brand which I often hear mentioned when he's with his fishing and sailing buddies. It's called Mac Boats and I've been look at the models on this page http://www.macboats.co.nz/category/lake-boats/ -- although because of all the boating jargon, I don't really get anything so any advise would be appreciated. It's referred to as a lake boat--so doest that mean it lacks features that would make it handle just as well in the sea?
Based on what I've overheard from them, they're all partial to this brand, but I am open to hearing other suggestions as well. So if you guys have any advise on what brand and model I should get, I'd really really appreciate it.
