There's a little book called 'Knots and Splices' by Cyrus L Day which I keep onboard and sneak a look at when it's been a while since I did a tricky splice. Doesn't cost much and does the trick for me.

Recently graduated to splicing braid-on-braid which is a bit more of a challenge!
