I got my rudder bearing material ( acital ) from Inverness bearing and transmission. They had to order it but the material cost less than the cost of turning the bearings. A half meter length 4" in diameter cost ( from memory ) between £70 and £80. You can probably find a bearing company nearer yourself who could supply you with some PTFE. If you run into a brick wall PM me and I will give you the address and contact details of the company I used.

Try Righton they supply PTFE and Acetal and have branches around the country. I think the Portsmouth branch phone number is 02392 375282.

Tuffnal would be much harder wearing and is a very easy material to machine also an excelent water lubricated bearing material.

Cravens at Boston have some in stock.

Cheers

Have used Aquarius Plastics in Guildford and RS components for engineering plastic supplies. I would think PTFE is a very expensive solution for rudder bearings - RS quote £189.00 + VAT per metre for 65mm dia rod. I'm sure something much cheaper such as Nylatron or Tufnol would be OK.
