...one a different breed. Now that the temperature is warming up and boats are getting back on the water, the crazy gang, headed up by Captain HeadLooseBanger, have been having a good old pop at our "breed". At least, chaps, we are a pedigree, from memory the only breed that can pass as the same when in fact they are all different are Mongrels. :))

Indeed - sailing is the whole point of being a raggie - even if it means long hours in the rain and dark and missing closing time. The journey is as important, if not more important than the destination.

Having two large Volvo Pentas to GUARANTEE you make the pub for 6pm only confirms that the destination is the only objective when you're a stinkie...

BTW - "temperature is warming up" ? you're evidently not in the UK then David ;-)

fish nor fowl : large engines all of you tho??

ah but you all have engines and runnem loads more hours than a "stinkie" boat too! Obviously they aren't volvos cos they'd have blown up probly, and if does seem a non-U brand these days. On some larger saily boats like Oysters they actually have two engines! is this permitted? Of course, it's not neccessary to put the sails up. But how weedy can the mast be whilst it's still a sailboat, and/or how powerful the engine?

Look there's nothing wrong with sailboats. Tow a few out to suitable positions around a channel, scuttle them and hey presto the masts make great channel markers. Very important when coming into port on the plane to make sure you catch last orders at the pub. I think every port should have some.

Not poking fun at raggies. I some times am one. Poking fun at the wish to invent more and more rules. And inventing clubs just like Wheel Tapers and Shunters. With a bloke called a commador. To ring the bell, whilst wearing a silly hat. Thats all. Nuffink wrong with sailing IMHO <G>

Re: In Haydn\'s defence

So, where are you exactly.. I mean right now. I'm only in the Forum to re-oxygenate the brain, the main task is to reduce this virtual pyramid of marking by sunrise. That isn't expected to happen until around Friday according to Isobel Lang - who incidentally I do believe is preggers, either that or she drinks Carling Black label. I find her a sweet and pretty little thing personally although I do have to confess to a warming of the cockles when Jennie Bond....Oh God now look what you've started

Re: In Haydn\'s defence

Well articulated young man! Poor old Haydn's feeling guilty (quite unneccessarily of course 'coz the whole thing is a post repost) let's hope he returns to semi-crazed madness soon!
