Newcomers its not too late, not by a long way - see thread expressions of interest. I guess we'd all welcome some starter sailors who want to get some experience and some moules under their belts, as well horny-handed sons and daughters of the sea. Even mobo people if they want to visit the dark side. Also there's the possibilty of going south on one boat and back on another to help broaden experience/have more fun/upset different people.

So far it looking like:

Date
Seems to be a choice between 4/5th October or 11/12th October. Some may want to long weekend it.

Could you post or PM saying which you prefer (or both) and whether you want to take an extra day or two. I wasn't visualising a cruise in company (necessarily). The real objective is to get as many people as possible wrapped around Assiettes de Fruits de Mer in Cherbourg at the same time.

either weekend is fine with me, if the first I really need to be back at work on Monday, if the second I'm less concerned. Either way I'd prefer a long weekend ..

11th/12th is better for me. (Cannot make 4/5th)
Just to confirm x3 on Arcturus (not x4) as I have an associate who wishes to come.
Also, cannot take extra day :-(

Ken, You are doing a great job - I know its not easy getting this number of people to agree on one plan !!

4th/5th unlikely
11t/12th, OK.

Can meet anytime from Thursday evening onwards, but would prefer to be back by Sunday evening.

Moondance still available as an option if you run out of spaces, but that doesn't look likely.

Wondered if perhaps the chappies who would find it difficult to get away on the Friday could get the ferry Sat Morning and meet up with the rest in Cherbourg?

can do 4th/5th. can't do 11th and 12th. Can do an extra day in case of Hurricane Fatipa, tho expect it will be a bit a weedy F6 at worst and just blow a few cardboard boxes about in Lymington.

This sounds like it is worth the journey from sunny Yokshur but, before I take soundings from SWMBO - is this a lads only trip or, are some taking spouses/partners/friends(?) etc?

Looks like mostly blokes. But i see no gender bar. I imagine it will be a teensy bit rufty tufty, but not too much. Not having the wimmin along means that you can lie about the incredibly arduous conditions later. But beware - you only have to do this once and they may be wary of joining other trips unless it is in very nice warm sea with guaranteed F2 (moderating).

Re: Sergeant Pepper

I think I'll be up for the trip - was planning on going anyhow around then. I was going to solo, but I can make room for someone else.

.... she's a full keeled 33' and consequently not the fastest out of the blocks. I'll plan to make a Friday - Monday trip. I'm now sailing out of Southsea.

Ferry sounds good unless anyone is leaving friday night or v early sat crossing ? May be able to slip away friday afternoon and head south for friday eve.Is anyone comming back Sunday? 4/5 or 11/12 either dates are OK weather permitting.
SWMBO could possibly make the 4/5 if we can get a babysitter and its not to rough.
(and not on the same boat as claymore re weel, women are ok) /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re:Cleckhuddersdale Farm soap.

SWMBO is a keen learner but still representative member of the "Betty Beaufort wind scale" i.e F3 fresh breeze, F5 gale, F7 hurricane.

So it goes like this;

David_e - Mon Cheri (start the french bit early), there are 20 or so blokes and very few women (likely sparks of interest) going on a booze trip to C/B from S/H and we can go along as crew (even more interest). How do you fancy it?

SWMBO - ooh that sounds luvverly we could do with some booze for xmas and I could get a new outfit. Who are the blokes (images of blond streaked, muscle bound AM cup crews in mind)? and when?

David_e - errr Autumn sometime - probably be a night passage 'cause there isn't much light (encouraging signs of frowning eyebrowes) and the gales aren't as strong, and if there is fog in the channel we can see the lights easier than the day time. The blokes are all the forumites on ybw.com.

SWMBO - Is that the bl***y web thing you are always scanning? (definate signs of disillussionment)

David_e - well most of the time, that is when I'm not transferring funds to your current account mon petit. (looks of total disbelief - david_e ducks just in time to avoid UFO)

SWMBO - well off you go, you're welcome to them, I'm off to Harvey Knickers.

David_e in other room Hello Visa, cancel my second card w/e from 3rd October, if angry woman calls say other card lost in France.

Simple:)) Wish me luck!

Re:Cleckhuddersdale Farm soap.

Excellent, I have printed off for safekeeping. Mind you, not really needed for us as i got her to come along xchannel when it was quite cold. So, the next time, er she came again in a powerboat, and it was f6-7 quartering eek, and then ooh yes another time she flew a little aeroplane and insists that i pressed some "auto" button which i definitely did not but it meant that she had to fight the thing to Dieppe when it wanted go to Cambridge. Oh and sevreal other xchannel trips erm incl one on renty saily boat which i had to fix with a woolies all-in-one toolkit and some edam cheeese to fill in the gap where the second o-ring shdve been, and then there was ...er well anyway, pretty sure she will NOT be coming along...

Feeling a bit gutted- We would have love to have joined in but HWMBO has used all his holidays (shouldn't have wasted a couple on football should he!!!)

And I could have been the token girly!

Hope you all have a great time (said with feeling ...... honest).

Ruth
