Apart from Norris and Teignbridge engineering, can anyone recommend a good UK bronze prop supplier?
looking at something like a 15x12 4 blade. Probably aluminium bronze.Hamble Propellers, Clements Marine Engineering, Lake Engineering, Castle Marine.
What sort/size of props and what do you mean by "bronze" as there are more than one type of Bronze alloys used for propellers.
Cheapest quote so far is just under £600 just looking to get a few more pricesI bought an 18×17.5 4 blade bronze 4 years ago and it was £756 , i can't open the pdf invoice to see if that included VAT.
Norris have given me a 7+ week lead time anyway. I forgot about Michigan. Always associate them with outboard and outdrive props. I'll message them, they are only a few miles from me.Some time ago this outfit was offering the best prices on replacement propellers especially if you needed an unusual pitch.
Home - Michigan Marine Propulsion International
At the time they were cheaper than any UK based supplier even though the props had to shipped from USA.
Something to do with the $ £ exchange rate at the time .
Shipping time was 6 weeks but by paying a little extra they would ship by air which reduced it to two or three weeks from order.
I bought a yacht propeller from Norris and it turned up in a Michigan box...Norris have given me a 7+ week lead time anyway. I forgot about Michigan. Always associate them with outboard and outdrive props. I'll message them, they are only a few miles from me.
Have used FAL before to make a new prop for a Mitchell 31 - did a great job and tweaked the prop compared to the original resulting in slightly better performance. They're about 4 miles down the road from me!
Have long held a sneaking suspicion that some prop suppliers are getting prop castings from Michigan and doing the final finishing tweaks ?I bought a yacht propeller from Norris and it turned up in a Michigan box...
