Probably the best marina in the world?

My 'best marina in the world' would be a composite of:

Cascais Portugal, but only for the 'free' bottle of wine
Santa Marta Columbia, good loos/showers, and they give you lifts to your boat using golf carts- no horrid trolleys.( But you can keep the dirt-laden 50knot winds)
Shelter Bay Panama- free swimming pool, free buses into town and a short walk into the jungle to see monkeys, sloths, toucans- oh and its good to use the pool not the sea because of the resident crocodiles...
In an ideal world a marina would have... hmm let me think.... extremely handsome men to take your lines, hand over a complementary luxury hamper of fresh fruit, bread, delicatessan foods, ice cold beer and wine; say 'welcome ma'am and may I say I've never seen such competant boathandling; would you like to avail yourself of our free welcome massage after your jacuzzi? In the meanwhile we'll launder your clothes and valet the yacht- on the house of course...'
Well a girl can dream...

Well I would have gone for Ostend
I have visited it 56 times & spent some 2 week hols there for the Paulufessen etc
However, having just been around UK there are some good & some terrible marinas. Thing is , when I got back I suddenly cannot help liking my home marina. There is something about coming home safely somewhere familiar after a long cruise

Puerto Calero Lanzarote.

The Argentinian restaurant upstairs on the corner was amazing, i went there all the time in Jan/Feb 2011 also the daughters at the irish bar :-)

To answer the question

rybovich is a pretty cool marina

Newport shipyard is ok, good parties.

Best to date

Porto Montenegro Marina. They had a wonderful yacht club as part of the facilities which had sky tv and a fridge full of beer (honour bar) champagne too. But the best bit for me was the carbon fibre sculls that we could take out.

Porto Montenegro BY FAR takes marinas to a different level. We are based there..check out the pool.PUROBEACH. on the website (link in previous post).

How could i forget the pool!! Ever been involved with an MTV music set no oh well i have at the, infinity pool at Porto Montenegro dancng later at night at the after party in the pool where waiters would offer out champagne beers etc 'in the pool' epic night out. Oh i forgot to mention the girls they were mega!!

Yes they certainly know how to throw a party.
Event at the pool for owners in August,5 course dinner, free booze all evening, live music, fireworks then onto Budva for a bit of clubbing till all hours......and recovery party the following day!

The hair straighteners in the men's loos in Portavadie have gone. Seems short sighted to me even if they were not getting too much use, it was the marinas main claim to fame and got them more publicity than any other feature. However they have just announced big plans to develop a leisure centre with indoor and outdoor pool, spa, gym and cafe. so the hair straighteners will doubtless reappear there.

I'd say Lagos in Portugal and Puerto La Cruz in Venezula are equal, both for the facilites and social life.

The latter even provide heavily armed guards on the gates, and will call taxis to help you not wander about on foot. Groceries are available via a dinghy ride to the supermarket in a 'safe' area.

stilroaming

How about Cartagena marina in spain, all facilities on the pontoons,
great staff captain, marineros,& office staff, everyone helpful at all times,
Sit in the cockpit & watch the liners coming & going.& then a 5 minute stroll & you are in the centre of town surrounded by bars & restaurants, leave the bar fall over twice & you are back in the marina.
