A quickie..

Rust marks in dacron sails, not big dark ones, the kind you get from winter storage with wet, un-pickled Stainless eyelets. How do I get them out without damaging the sails...??

Anybody know?

We got this amazing Rust Remover that was chemical based and reacted with the iron oxide to turn it into salt with no rubbing required. It works great on fiberglass and amazing on dinghies. Did a search on Google and found the website for it...

Its probably phosphoric acid and/or oxalic acid based. There are a number of rust-removing cleaners like this e.g. Starbrite, ask in your chandlers. Its even possible to buy the ingredients cheaper, according to some past postings here.

However, although they work fine on GRP and paint surfaces, you may need to be cautious with sails. Some here have reported good results, making sure they are well washed out after use, but sailmakers are reluctant to use them.
