Private boat sales at Kip Marina

Am I allowed to sell my Centaur through ebay while it is based there?

Craobh Haven is also a member of the Holt Leisure group, and there's nothing in their terms that would stop you (standard British Marine Federation terms). There might be a problem if you tried to set up a brokerage, but for flogging your own boat it shouldn't be an issue.

but the paypal taps were right dowm

Perhaps you should try Patreon. It certainly seems to work for other Youtubers (yes, they actually do make just shy of 10'000 USD per video). It basically automates the Paypal donations and thus creates a more steady income flow, as people don't have to actively decide to give you money for each video (much like selling a magazine subscription instead of individual issues). Just please don't start wearing bikinis.

I did a little asking around about Patreon

The market leader, La Vagabonde, gets 250,000 hits per film on youtube and have 1200 people coughing up through Patreon - that nets them $7,000 per film

so one in 250 taps in

my films get around 8000 in the first two weeks - and get 120 taps

so my tap rate on paypal is higher.

I did ask the old blokes if they would do the patreon thing.... they said no.

I am not that worried about hitting the budget buffers - it is no worse than the other incidents of this ten year project - engine blowing up, cutlass going wobbly, the death of DVD sales, Adsense demise, the wheel falling off the trailer on the A 14, outboards being nicked.

I just need to sweat my assets for a while Centaurs are easy to sell and easy to buy. Lily M is an excellent boat - a three season old immaculate engine, pretty good sales, no leaks. She is ready to roll and is more than capable of handling almost anything the British coast can throw at her.

I had intended to keep this centaur for five years and use if for the outer hebrides and the outside of Ireland - but that is not going to happen for a while now.

It is back to trailer sailing until I get the budget back into balance.

The £400 for the Medway talk last weekend was a bit of a help.

I used to do the talks for free or a bottle of scotch. Then I could sell DVDs and books at the event to make it worth while - no no-one buys DVDs

My plan is to eventually buy another all weather shit box boat with full standing headroom and a decent heating system. In the meantime it is back to full crouching headroom in a 22 footer with an outboard - as soon as I buy an outboard to replace the one that was nicked.

Some marinas have it written into the contract that if you sell privately they will take their percentage of the sale. Check the small print. You could say you gave it away........

Oh my! And to think I politely took a berating from you at Leith for having a big boat when you advised me to sell it and buy buy a small one.

Some do but it's been legally proven to be unenforceable.
