I used to own one and did Wales to Ireland more times than I can remember, finaly taking it to Scotland.
That one had a fly bridge which was rare and twin 130hp diesels with outdrives.
It always was a very popular boat with a good reputation years ago.
More important now is to look at individual boats and see how well maintained it is.
Only down side was. It was a bit flat bottomed. But then again
all the boats of that time were.
For a planing boat of its age you wont do much better.
Hang on Haydn that would be a 32 surely? The 33 came as a flybridge model with a modified deep vee hull giving quite a good ride, whereas the 32 was as you say a bit flat bottomed and slammed somewhat.
Gerrroff me back Byron. I know what bloody boat I had.
And it was a MK1.
They all had to be a bit flat bottomed then cos the engines were'nt as powerfull as today.
I'm suitably told off and chastened as you ain't here to do it I have slapped my own wrist. I take small comfort in the fact that I know how to spell powerful ;-)
Sorry Old Git, this forum has a tendency to drift. So which 33 is it you are looking at? A Mk1 or II. What are the motors?
Is it a flybridge? Where will you be using it?
The answer is yes, we had one years ago, it was our first proper boat, non flybridge twin mermaid 80 hp, ok for sea and rivers, cheap to run, loads of fun y hull though, if I ever went for another,I would go for either the planing hull version with mermaid 140 hp gives 18-22 knots, 80 hp gives max12-14 if your a lucky man, mine always would do a good 12- 14, accomodation ok, but dont look at the mark 2 after youve bought a MK 1, YOU WILL BE P-----OFF. its a totally different thing, pay no more than 35k for the mk1 no more than 45k for a 2, best mk2 is shafts and 200 41 volvos but not many made, 165 volvos ok as well, although servicing is tight for room, my friend still has one , featured mbm this year done loads of miles in it. Good hunting.
drifting i know all about drifting i used to have a boat with mercruisers.Back to the thread. The boat I am looking for is a princess 33 mk1.not bothered about flybridge.Only me and SWMBO.Main use on the Medway /thames estuary N.kent coast.
So Ok theres a spare L or two in powerfull.
It's not an L of a lot between friends.
Mind you dEIsel was completely arse over tit.
I thought your spelling leasons had been curtailed by that one Byron.
thanks for input, the boat I am looking at has got twin 140 hp mermaids on shafts.interior obviously scruffy despite this the broker insists the cabin is in "excellent condition"?.Poor eyesight perhaps?
Re: hah (BYRON BACK IN PLACE Resume normal service
Should be a good boat for you. Cors I cant comment on its condition. Outdrives are killers when they get older but shafts are cheapish to mend even if you do have trouble.
