Premier Marinas 26% Increase in Fees - WHAT!

New wifi supplier and wifi masts installed last year, depends on what is moored around on how good a service you get. we are in a dark spot behind a big flybridge next to us so still tether to the phone and its unlimited data.

Wifi is non existent on end of A pontoon , been like it for a while now it must be something to do with boats and masts being in the way, how inconsiderate morning boats in a marina. No thought was planned into the wifi range an accessibility to everyone yet they want you to upgrade and pay for something that doesn't work, I'd say it was installed more to make money than serve its berth holders. YOU ONLY GET 4 hours per day free, when it's run out that's it till the clock strikes midnight, so in a way it's not free, you can pay extra for unlimited but the bandwith is poor, not good enough to watch anything on a smart TV.

No marina seems to be able to provide good wifi. At Chichester, we have excellent signal on our pontoon, but it's poor on the adjacent one. Must be due to masts etc. it could be overcome by a more powerful signal, but as I understand it regulations prevent that.

Who says it's half empty.

Is it just posdible that demand is up and they feel they can charge more for spaces. If you don't like it move, no one is forcing you to stay.

You're right, its not 1/2 empty, probably more than 3/4 empty.

They're having a big sales push on Easter Monday to try and sell the empty spaces...........including 'my' space!

I think I read somewhere that Swanwick are now offering a 12 month a year dry stack service with unlimited launch, recovery and storage whereas their old service was for only 6 months a year. Is this right or am I dreaming?

This is correct, Paul, as I've just signed up for the year.....also included is one year's free membership to SeaStart, which I think is very worthwhile.

Cheers, Allan

That's what I got at premier in Gosport, the free sea start and unlimited launches all year round is what sold it for me. You could potentially never see your boat out of the water.

Nice photo, especially as the small boat on the right on the ground rack is my new (to me) Finnmaster 61CA. :D

And I'm back to back with you on the ground cradle, with the black canopy. I think that my boat is too tall to fit on any of the inside racks in the drystack.

Hi Garold,

Nice boat you have, it looks brand new....look forward to meeting you at Swanwick one day.

Cheers, Allan

So am I right in presuming the OP was complaining about a 26% increase in cost for twice the service?

No, exactly the same service.

Saxon Wharf have quoted me £115 more (Drystack) than i paid at Swanwick last year and Shamrock Quay have quoted £39 more for a restricted berth.

Swanwick is a nicer environment than Saxon/Shamrock and similarly going out along the Hamble is more pleasant, but is it worth spending over £1000 more......................?

I spoke to another Swanwick Drystack customer who has just paid pretty much what i paid last year and they got a very similar quote from Saxon, so strange that upon renewal Swanwick want to hike price by so much.

Its now water under the bridge (so to speak) as i have given Swanwick notice that i won't be renewing.

As I've said before premier are very good at giving new clients a deal on new business but ignore the requests of there loyal clients, I've been in business over 25 years now and look after existing clients which has given me repeat business over the years, no need to look for new clients. I'd like to see the waiting list for berths here, I can't see them queuing up , it's goodbye to Swanwick this weekend sad but against my view to stay at the ridiculous inflated prices driven by greed from the men at the top.

Well after moving my boat on Saturday I went back to collect my van and say a goodbye to a few people on A pontoon , seems a few have voted with there feet including the big princess on the end of X. So I'd calculate a 32k loss on the 4 boats I know of that have left nit including the 98. How can they keep taking a hit like this?
