Premier Marinas 26% Increase in Fees - WHAT!

A few years ago, Swanwick did their best to get me to move from Mercury with some crazy offers. I had a sneaky feeling it was one of those 'get you in' kind of deals and Volvopaul post kind of confirms that.

As others have said, vote with your feet. If you feel the berth is worth the money fair enough, if not, there's lots of spaces out there.

Me? I took Swanwicks price back to Mercury and MDL did their best to keep me as a happy customer.

Hey Paul

Time to head north !!

Then you can look after my boat and a few of my mates

Go on you know it makes sense

Cheers

They are selling the marina. Higher berthing revenue forcast equates to a higher asset sale price.

Current owners don't dare if you never come back, they have no interest in future business once they've sold out. They just want to make the assets look as valuable as possible

I agree in principal, in so far as they want the asset to look as valuable as possible, but a half empty marina doesn't look anywhere near as valuable as a full one.

Full marina = desirable with scope to put prices up, Half empty marina = not desirable/ struggling as they clearly would have done everything they could to let berths before trying to sell..............

Even worse is newly built 1/2 empty facility as cost plan for build would very unlikely to have been done on basis of 50% utilisation

As far as I know everyone at our end of the pontoon has renewed with the exception of the guys opposite who have moved their boat to Gib. Walking down the pontoon over the weekend there are no gaps, in fact they have filled a couple.

As I said before, it is a shame you couldn't work it out with the guys at Swanwick, my experience Of Premier over the last five years has been overall very positive especially in the last 12 to 15 months since Andy took over at Swanwick.

Who says it's half empty.

Is it just posdible that demand is up and they feel they can charge more for spaces. If you don't like it move, no one is forcing you to stay.

Paul, Clearly you've all renewed because you are happy with the renewal price. Are you all happy with a 26% increase and have renewed on that basis or have you renewed with less or no increase on last year's price?

As per title, Premier Marinas have increased my dry stack fees at Swanwick by 26% compared to last year.

Well, when i say 'have' i mean 'have tried' as i shall be moving my boat to another Marina when my contract expires.

What increases have other Marinas imposed this year?

Any drystack recommendations along the Solent for a 10m 5ton Windy Khamsin?

I would also consider standard berth if price is favourable.

TRAFALGAR DRYSTACK is a must visit as if it can meet your requirements it will win hands down over many other dry stacks.

Putting mine on a dry stack in Gosport, I hope mine does not increase that much next year, I phoned MDL up to find out what their prices were at Hayling island, I nearly fell of my chair laughing when they quoted, £5900 with only 6 months of being allowed to put it in the water. Now that is 50% more than what I am paying at Premier in Gosport with all year access and as many lifts as I want.

To the OP. Make sure you speak to someone at premier. I had a really eye watering increase in this years berthing at chichester (22%) but eventually got it sorted. About 2.5% increase on last year, and don't forget you should get a loyalty discount. I think someone in their accounts is suffering from fat fingers....

2.5% seems about the norm on Premier's "normal" berthing rates Kev. We are moving back to Swanwick on the 19th, so expect to see you waving a tear soaked handkerchief at the lock around 09.30
