With a possible purchase in view we will be going to the nearest marina to assertain the possible cost of a berth and it’s aavailability. In addition to this cost of launching and recovery and hard standing and any details about costs of basic hull cleaning and antifoul ing……so we will not be shocked!

The only possible source of shock would be you buying a boat. When that happens, I expect the sound of overheating pacemakers will be deafening.

“Don’t tell me what you’re going to do, show me what you’ve done”

As maxims go, it has stood me in pretty good stead when sorting the wheat from the chaff

And that other old saw: “ It is the things you haven’t done that you will regret , when time comes to throw your mouldy old bones into the grave ”

IMHO This month would be the perfect time for Captain Wandsworth—Salty-Feet to buy a boat for chugging up and down the Ria, given all the nonsense and uncertainty in the world, and his own relatively sane and stable position therein.

There!
You have my express permission to go buy a boat Wansy but this offer expires at Easter when prices go up 😎💨💨💨
Please feel free to share this post with your wife👍🥂😊

I rather rashly mentioned to the wife we could go to view a yacht today,Sunday. On reflection that didn’t seem a good idea so Ithought before rushing Ina bit of ground work would not come a miss ……I don’t know if traditional UK pricing jumps like Easter work here ,the price of my chosen craft has been steadily dropping but taking in to account the kerfuffle in the America I might throw caution to the wind (no pun intended)

“Show us what you’ve done ( etc)

Or send the Mrs out with the shopping list. That will fix it ✅✅✅
1/ Buy a boat
2/ organise a 12month berth
3/ Bottle of cava and some sausages

After what seems like decades, the idea of Wansworth buying a boat has sent me into shock this morning. It will change the way he posts on the forum. Instead of teasing us on an almost weekly basis on what to buy, he will start asking how do I fix this, where can I buy this part for no money, there is a problem with the engine, etc. I look forward to this massive change. Best of luck in finally finding a boat that you can poodle about on in the sunshine with a drink in your hand.

The answer my friend,
Is blowing in the wind.

No, you will be shocked!

Get used to it. 😁

And what's all this about getting the yard to price up doing the anti-fouling. Where's the PBO spirit? You post these vids of people building their own boats, etc., and you're not going to do your own anti-fouling? Were you planning to wear a gold-braided captain's hat, too? ;)

Can't you get your wife and daughter to do it, while you stand back, pipe in hand, supervising? :D

Yeah, you wouldn't want to do anything rash... Another decade or so of groundwork is definitely in order 🤔

I was looking at a worse case scenario, wife out with a bad neck hopefully the daughter will be gainfully employed. In Vigo the prices are reasonable but Sada I have been told is a bit pricey.Sada. Is our nearest marina, only place to keep a boat, moorings are very scant, about 1.5 hours door to door .Its generally windier than the rias south ofFinisterre.
