On a trip to Cherbourg over the Bank Holiday we entertained two migrating visitors - a willow warbler which rested under the sprayhood for a few minutes; unfortunately we were going south at the time so we were not much help, and off it set for England. 60 miles into a headwind must be quite tiring for a 1 ounce bird.

Going north a whimbrel (or so we think) landed on the boom, obviously found it slippery and came round again to attempt a landing on the leeward spreader.

Lots of swallows seen too.

Any other migrating visitors seen recently?

There's swarms of English tourists on the Gold Coast at the moment. Fortunately they keep their feathers on.
