HI does anyone know of a good instructor for this course, (open floodgates) we are based in the solent. but boat in the med, so will need a boat or rib also to do the course.

Has a school RIB and a couple of motor cruisers. Good instructor and a jolly nice chap.

Julie (Powerskipper) of Mendez Marine as above...she's excellent or as also mentioned, David (Solitaire) of 5star Marine...both really good so you can't go wrong with either.

If your med boat is the same type & configuration as the school boat, then UK based training has some merit. Otherwise, I'd look for own boat tuition as a priority and very probably as a preferred approach in any case. If you can get an RYA ticket at the same time, then all the better but ponder whether the purpose is to learn how better to handle your boat or to collect tickets!

+1 for 5star Marine. My 11 year old, my wife and I did the PB2 in August on our own Bayliner 265. I have had the boat for 2 1/2 years on the Thames but wanted some training for the family on our own boat on the Solent.
Not cheap on your own boat but has its benefits. If you take your lunch onboard, watch out as David is partial to a sausage roll or 3.
Also did my VHF with David.

+1 for (Tim) Griffinmarine. Didnt do PB 2 with him as we already had that, but hired him for a day for own boat tuition on Gemini, and his style and approach was spot on for us. Had so much more confidence after being with him. Thinking of doing Day Skipper with him as well.

My boat is a sealine S28 with twin outdrives, Located in Alicante. But will need to do the training in the UK as I don't think both the kids would be able to get the same time off work.

V40 on out drives two day helm course any good not sure why you would want to do a Powerboat level 2 course on a rib as a very different scheme .

PB2 is a good introduction to steer and gear boating and with one engine its easy to get to grips with, your 28 has 2, its a similar principle but it would be worth you having a play with a twin under instruction to get the most out of it all after you have done the PB2, it does not have to be a course, just a days boat handling would be good to show you the differences. The PB2 will give you an ICC up to 10m that covers your 28.

From experience, that's my point! Do you need "to be covered" or do you need training on how better to pilot your boat? If you have twin out-drives, then taking twin out-drive tuition is the only logical and obvious step to take. If you can get a ticket at the same time, so much the better! Nowt wrong with P2, just recognise what it is, and perhaps more importantly, what it is not!
