Dear Bob

My blaupunkt system uses 0.9a on low volume radio,
1.0a low volume cd
1.5a high volume radio or cd !
So, not much current, and not much extra to turn up the volume

If you only got this equipment at Xmas it should have a booklet and instructions with it. The powerdraw at 12 volts and the fuse rating should be clearly stated on the specification page and may even be printed on a label on the back of the unit.. Funny no-one else has suggested this!
I would not expect it to be more than about 1 amp at 12v. I have a 10" colour tv which only draws 4 amps!

as an aside - I also recently fitted a car stereo which required negative, positive and cont. positive, this being done all works well. The question I have is what should the metal case be connected to negative or ground ?
