Portugal issue??

From what you told me, you are a long -term citizen rather than a reaction to Brexit which, unless I'm mistaken is the point of concern for most.
That is so. I've been here since 1980 so couldn't have voted on Brexit even had I wished. I'm unaffected by it and as it's here to stay just wish that people would learn to adjust and stop moaning.

I'm alright jack! And people should stop moaning.........

Not a case of I'm alright Jack. For those of us who had residence in advance, there has been little change except for the import problems if wanting to buy from UK suppliers. I didn't vote for Brexit but accept the majority vote so no point in moaning about it.

Yes, And I have permanent residency in Spain, but sailing slowly to Turkey and and back over a few years is no longer an option, so I will moan! Boats are for going places.

Following the rules as they stand now you are correct but, I suspect there will be ways found to avoid officialdom and maybe new (possibly tourist visa) rules introduced as time passes. Only a short stint I know but we've just had 12 days in Spanish waters without being quizzed and even if we were, we could have arrived the day before. ;)

SEF are catching up with Residence applications for us Brits. Today, yes, a Sunday, I received an email from them inviting me to make an appointment. Job done!

It appears all Brits in our area are receiving e mails requesting they make an appointment with SEF.

Had my appointment last week.

They publicise going with an A4 summary sheet with this info - Name, Address, NIF, Utente No, NHS No, social security no if you have one - most retired people don't! Passport and Mother and Father's names, contact details - both Tel no and preferred e mail address.

As I was renewing an old A4 certificate of residence issued by Nazare Camara in 2016 I was not asked for any proof of sufficient income. I'm aware that those applying for resident cards following a D7 visa application need to prove adequate income (approx €800pm) and health insurance (so that you are not a burden on the state).

All so sensible I wonder why the UK doesn't have any similar system.

They then take photo and forefinger prints. Appointments take 20min slots.

They finally give you website address asking you to log on in 48hrs and pay €15 for resident ID card. I logged in and paid it after only 5hrs.

Now awaiting receipt of credit card size ID card.

The UKs lack of ID cards is IMHO one of the major reasons for encouraging illegal immigration as they can disappear into the black economy so easily.

Are there any other European nations that don't require an ID card? In USA its a social security card.

Eight days since my interview, still waiting for payment document to appear on Brexit portal.

It's difficult to find the invoice IIRC its a sub portal which one you log in you can click on € symbol and invoice appears with ref number to make payment to state on either phone app or cash point.

EDIT: now gone to computer: -1. go to web address https;//brexit.sef.pt/en/pedido
2. log on
3. BREXIT protect your rights page appears.
4. Just underneath is a blue heading strip with 3 yellow boxes
5. middle one has two symbols, one representing a calendar (to make an appointment) and second one a € symbol.
6. Click on € symbol and invoice for €15 appears with reference number for a payment to the state.
7. you can pay it at ATM or any Portuguese banking app.

Hope this works for you.

If it doesnt work perhaps Stingo can ask at his appointment what can be done if payment invoice does not appear.

Sorry can't remember exact https address but I think you will find the payment invoice is there somewhere.
If Stingo's about to go perhaps he can share web address and what he clicked on.

The address is for the Brexit portal, not the main SEF portal. BREXIT (sef.pt) Click on "apply now", then "application for new residence permit" then click "€" sign, then name.

Stingo would like it known that he is on shore leave as he somehow managed to explicitly specify that Louis Hamilton is a Lady Garden........ he will respond on this thread when his shore leave expires.... of course, I wouldn't bank on him being able to consistently reply as he is somewhat prone to a bit of shore leave. :ROFLMAO:
