Whilst visiting the Solent, check out WicorMarine on the way up the Harbour towards Farnham - walkashore all tide alongside pontoon moorings and no lock to negotiate and about the same distance to the Harbour mouth as PS.

It's not that the pontoons are really thin. But the spaces between them are.

Several of the berths I was in this year the fairway wasn’t as wide as the boat is long, and I was rubbing fenders with the next boat in one. It’s a nice marina if you have a good berth but if not it’s an utter nightmare so get a commitment on a specific berth before signing anything. Also never ever let them move your boat, mine was damaged on pretty much every occasion.
