Having just returned from a jolly weekend enjoying our fine 3-day summer, I'm sure that this year the locking in/ out procedure at Port Solent seems to be taking far longer than previously. It's not the volume of boats, it's the "time per lock" that seems longer.

Is it me getting more impatient with age, or has anyone else noticed this??

As a Port Solent berth holder I can not think of any reason why the marina guys would want to slow up on their turn around of locking in and out.

Maybe it is just more vessels are using the lock ?

I'm going to have send you off to the Thames Forum, where they discuss lock after lock problems, rather than your one. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If I post on the Thames Forum, does that also mean I need to grow a beard, drink warm beer with twigs in it & start painting my boat with roses & castles???

As a Thames Boater and a south coast boater I am recommending that every person that tried to lock though Chichester (ok not all but most) yesterday afternoon spend a good season on the Thames to learn how to navigate a small channel and how to moor up on the waiting pontoon...

Some of THE most shocking boat handling I have seen.

And as for the chap (moody something or other ) who wanted to jump the 18 boats so one of his passengers could catch their train back to birmingham well they can whistle. Come to think of it I never did get a thank you for allowing you to jump past me so you could make lock cill....

End result I have dragged the tender back to the thames for next weekend so I can enjoy my weekend...
