Hi Philiz

can you explain the locking in and out arangements I couldnt see it on the website.

Cheers

Mike

Better to work on 2 1/2hrs either side of HW for the Lock, depending on draught of vessel. You would have a little longer in the council estate :) (thats the outer marina) on Neaps.... you can get in the council estate at all states (again depending on draught.)

All boats sit in the mud at Springs in the outer dock.

Lock access is generally 3 hrs either side of HW unless there are unusual circumstances, marina staff can be contacted on channel 80. Outer harbour is tidal, so access depends on your craft. It dries to soft mud on anything other than a small neap tide.

Port Dinorwic have recently announced a sizeable reduction in berthing fees for new and existing bertholders.

PD have lost bertholders in recent times, as most marinas have, so the reduction is clearly done in an effort to attract extra business. It is still good news for us who berth there though and will save me £450 a year.

I have no connection other than being a happy customer :)

Well that's just not fair :mad: Don't the authorities around North Wales speak to each other? I received a 2.5% discount for paying 2012 berthing by 31st December.

Just typical, all of the weathy mobo punters at PD with huge disposable incomes get a sizeable discount while we the working class get the crumbs.

I'll go back to my own forum now, thank you for the excursion :D

David

Do you think that is big enough discount to put up with the continued hassle likely at Pwllheli?

Dont know if you saw my post about council plans but no proper solution to access problems likely in 2012.

They are desperate to stop the exodus and maintain the cash cow.

IMHO the berth holders association could have been more effective in establishing a significant reduction of berth fees. The council have a written obligation in their marina handbook to maintain access to the marina by dredging to 0.6 below chart datum.

Its too late now but I reckon co-ordinated action to withhold part of the berthing fees until this work had been carried would have been reasonable and made a difference.

You wouldn't like it at PD, it's far too calm and quiet, your boat stays still at night and it's too easy to get in and out, oh and you can't keep your funbox full no matter how hard you try :D

Any ideas for a suitable date end of Jan early Feb.

It's a good idea, but not at the pub, too expensive, I'm saving up for a new boat you know. Maybe the Gar Ffon? (probably misspelt!)

Mmm, can't help you there, no room you see. The major isn't at PD all that often nowadays, although I did have dinner with him last weekend. Apparently he's working a lot.

The thing is we don't have to use it to post 1,000s of daily items it can just sit there and NOT get chocked to death with a loads of mumbo jumbo on everything under the sun that is not of direct interest to the boys of the North West Coast and Irish Sea it can be looked at any time by any one of us who just wants to post or make a reference to a forthcoming local event or something of interest or to check out a bit of info that would take an hour or more to find it if it was only on here or in any of the other forums, plus if a member does not get on MOBO or any of the other forums every day a NW item will be lost in the realms of time a copy on there could be found with out too much searching. I personally think we are not giving it a chance to make good and it could be of some use to all of the NW peeps.

I see it not as an alternative to here or the lozenge as a place to hold long and controversial conversations but when something has been posted on here or any of the forums that any one finds interesting there is no reason it cant be double posted on the NW Mob as a note book or notice board to keep simple useful bits of information.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't think you have to register or have singed up anything to go there, it's open to any one on the top banner just click on Community then Social Groups on the drop down then the NW Mob icon and if you want to return back to the page you where on then just hit the back button twice.The only thing you have to do is have any pics go thought a mot to post them and I think that's got something to do with the restriction of post size and space.
SO COME ON GUYS GIVE IT A CHANCE and anything you want to be kept in sight for a good long while and be seen by all the NW peeps PUT A COPY OF IT ON THE NW MOB.
##~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~##
By the way there has been some new activity on the NW Mob
The latest item brokethebox has his Nobby back on the water out of Liverpool. It's items like this that will benefit posted on there.
My apologies for all the shouting but I was just tyring to highlight some relevant points I hope it helps.
