Port Dinorwic have recently announced a sizeable reduction in berthing fees for new and existing bertholders.

PD have lost bertholders in recent times, as most marinas have, so the reduction is clearly done in an effort to attract extra business. It is still good news for us who berth there though and will save me £450 a year.

I have no connection other than being a happy customer :)

Phil what would it cost for a 24 foot raggie.?

Looking at alternative to PulleyWoolie

I am seriously considering reloacating to Brittany. I was offered a tideless river swinging mooring fo 45 euros a month when visiting last year:eek:

We can dry out but prefer not to.

Depend on how long you berth for, 12 months is £250 per metre so about £1875 for a year through the lock or drying out in the outer harbour.

Thanks Phil

Looking to be a better deal than rafted up on piles at Peelywillie.

Bit nearer home than Brittany.

Rushie any chance of getting a berth in Dick's Vicky Dock?
Have all the new berths been snaffled yet?

Definitely better than rafted up on piles, you have no chance of a berth in Victoria Dock. They're all spoken for so far as I'm aware

There seemed to be quite a few empty spaces on the new pontoons when I walked past VD today. The holders may have the boats on the hard though.

Happy New year Steve, Phil & Liz. But hey searush you are Welsh and get better rates than us English, at Victoria Dock that also applies, in that the Welsh are first on the list for any vacant moorings, of which there were none to us English about 2 years ago, maybe Welsh also. Just overheard a conversation by the HM and someone wanting a mooring.

I'm trying to get hlb to get the boat back to Conwy or somewhere nearer than Puffwelly, so we can at least use it. VD would be fantastic, but I don't think thats going to happen.

Nah, I'm only hornery Welsh. I'm an ex-Pat Scouser living in the Midlands. No reduced fees for me, but you are right, pay your rates in Conway & you get special fees in the harbour. But that's only because it is Council run, altho there may be something similar for local commercial users at Caernarfon.

As I understand it, the berths are spoken for but there won't be any services to them until mid 2012. Might be wrong though!

There are services now on the new berths
There are some vacancies
It depends on the size of the vessel
Victoria Dock is run by Caernarfon Harbour Trust
Being a Trust as opposed to a private profit making enterprise this reflects the marina fees
Being Welsh has nothing to do with the waiting list being 'jumped'
I did however jump the list as it were in 2009
Only because I was offered a berth which was somewhat restricted by the old rail lines that protrude from the slipway
Not to everyones taste but it would not have bothered me
In the end , although I paid a substantial percentage of the annual fee.
I never actually got my old boat in the dock but thats another story!
Oh yes! I waited about 4 years to be offered the berth by the way
I am definitely Welsh, speak it (after a fashion) local and well known locally!!!;)
But still had to wait

Kwacker is correct but.....

You really need to live in the area to get to the top of the list.

If you apply and there are 5 locals waiting for a berth you go number 6. If another local applies he goes number 6 and you get number 7. If another local applies he goes number 7 and you drop to 8.

Fair of course it is........ it's Wales :)

Oh yeh and to get on the list you have to send a cheque for £40.

When I asked last year I was told that the next "outsider" getting to the top of the list had been waiting almost 10 years. Each time he gets near to getting a berth he is gazumped by a local.

Alls fair in Love War and Wales :)

Hi Philiz

can you explain the locking in and out arangements I couldnt see it on the website.

Cheers

Mike

For Y Felinheli lock access is +/- 3 hrs from high water I believe.

Call up on vhf but not sure 24hr access? Phil will probably be here in a minute.

If I had a residential address in Gwynedd am I considered to be a local?;)

Could I get to the top of the waiting list as a third generation anglo saxon colonist, born in Wales and working in Wales .

Cant talk Gibbber much though. They only started compulsory teaching it just after I left primary school.
